Why your life sucks

In fact, it’s highly unlikely that your life sucks.

Life expectancy has risen more in the last 50 years than the previous 1000. The likelihood of a violent death has never been lower. World poverty is at an all-time low.

In the near future we will have self-driving cars, saving over 1 million lives per year. Medicine will continue to improve, extending human lifespans past 100 years. Far on the fringes, futurists are discussing what would happen if science finds a way to make humans immortal.

Artificial intelligence will start doing all the routine work that humans hate doing, leaving us only to our creative pursuits. I can imagine a future where traditional jobs don’t exist, each person waking up to do only the work she finds most meaningful.

But sure, your life sucks because you got left on open.
