A better strategy: Start your own blog. Write on it every day.
The daily practice of blogging changes you. It forces you to speak clearly, think clearly, and to listen carefully. It forces you to assert something and prove that it’s true. It forces you to stand by your assertion, sometimes in the face of intense scrutiny.
Most people don’t do any of these things well, and it’s no wonder that writing-intensive courses are considered a high-impact educational practice.
Blogging won’t change you overnight, and nobody will read your blog for a long time–it took me 500 posts to gain significant traction. It’s a lot harder than curating your Instagram feed, but that’s exactly what makes it worth doing.
So blog. Blog because you can. Blog because you can be better than you are right now.
