Each morning, before I allow myself to look at my phone, computer, or anything else that might drag me down an attention-sucking rabbit hole, I meditate for 10 minutes.
This is a useful construct to develop useful habits: Before you can do X, do Y, where X is the thing you like in the short-term, and Y is the is the thing you know is good for you in the long-term.
Common X’s: Netflix, your phone, drinking, napping, snacking, socializing.
Common Y’s: Exercising, saving money, doing laundry, brushing your teeth, studying.
A happy life is made up of happy days. Happy days are made up of habits that result in happiness.
