The average college graduate had $37,172 in student loans in 2016. Seems like a lot.
But a Bachelor’s degree is worth $2.8 million on average over the course of a lifetime. Seems like a lot more.
My point is that even if $40,000 seems like a lot to you right now, it’s still a pitiful amount in comparison to what you’re going to get later in life, even paying some 4% interest on those loans.
So yes, be diligent in paying off as much debt as you can, but also calm down, because you’ll be fine. You’re making a smart investment.
